COMPATIBILITY ASTROLOGY
SYNASTRY AND COMPOSITE CHARTS

Planet and Moon

Synastry in astrology is the branch that focuses on the comparison of two or more individuals' natal charts to assess the potential compatibility and dynamics of their relationships. These can be family relationships, romantic, business partnerships, ect! In simple terms, it examines how the planetary positions at the time of each person's birth interact with each other.

Here's a breakdown of how synastry works:

  1. Natal Charts: Each individual has a natal (birth) chart, which is essentially a snapshot of the positions of the planets, the Sun, and the Moon at the time of their birth. The natal chart is divided into twelve houses, each representing different aspects of life.

  2. Planetary Aspects: Synastry primarily looks at the aspects formed between the planets in one person's chart and those in another person's chart. Aspects are angular relationships between planets, such as conjunctions (when planets are close together), sextiles (60-degree angles), squares (90-degree angles), trines (120-degree angles), and oppositions (180-degree angles). The type of aspect and the planets involved provide insights into the nature of the relationship between individuals.

  3. House Overlays: Synastry also considers how one person's planets fall into the houses of the other person's chart. This adds another layer of interpretation, indicating which areas of life are most affected by the interaction between the two individuals.

  4. Personal Planets and Outer Planets: In synastry, personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) are often given more weight as they are considered to influence more immediate and personal aspects of a relationship. Outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) are also important but are thought to impact the relationship on a more collective or generational level.

  5. Astrological Aspects and Compatibility: Certain aspects are traditionally associated with compatibility or challenges in relationships. For example, trines and sextiles are generally considered harmonious, while squares and oppositions may indicate tension or challenges. However, the interpretation can vary based on the specific planets involved and the overall context of the charts.

WHAT CAN AN ASTROLOGY SEE IN A SYNASTRY CHART?

As an Astrologer, I examine various elements within the synastry chart to gain insights into the overall compatibility, communication styles, emotional connection, romantic and sexual compatibility, long-term commitment, karmic connections, and areas of growth or challenge. The chart considers the placement of planets such as Mercury for communication, the Moon for emotions, Venus and Mars for love and attraction, and Saturn for commitment. Harmonious aspects in the chart, like trines and sextiles, suggest ease and compatibility, while challenging aspects such as squares and oppositions may point to potential areas of tension. As an Evolutionary Astrologer, I also explore the concept of karmic connections, suggesting that certain aspects or placements indicate a past-life connection or lessons to be learned in the current relationship.

COMPOSITE CHARTS-THE PURPOSE OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Composite astrology charts are a specialized type of chart used in relationship astrology. Rather than focusing on individual natal charts, the composite chart is created by finding the midpoint between the positions of each planet in the natal charts of two individuals. This midpoint forms a new chart, providing insights into the dynamics, energies, and potentials of the relationship itself, rather than the individuals separately.

Here's how composite charts are typically created and used:

  1. Midpoints: The composite chart is calculated by finding the midpoints between the positions of each planet in the natal charts of the two individuals. This involves calculating the average position for each planet based on its placement in both charts.

  2. Composite Planetary Aspects: Similar to synastry, astrologers analyze the aspects formed between planets in the composite chart. These aspects reveal the nature of the interaction between the two individuals within the context of their relationship.

  3. Composite Houses: The composite chart also includes houses, indicating the areas of life where the relationship dynamics are most likely to manifest. The placement of planets in specific houses provides insights into shared goals, challenges, and experiences within the relationship.

  4. Midpoints of Angles: In addition to planetary midpoints, astrologers may also calculate midpoints for the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, and Imum Coeli in the composite chart. These midpoints can offer further information about the overall tone and purpose of the relationship.

  5. Symbolic Representation: The composite chart is seen as a symbolic representation of the relationship itself. It reflects the unique energy and purpose of the partnership, highlighting both its strengths and potential challenges.

Composite charts are used for various purposes in relationship astrology:

  • Understanding Purpose of the Relationship and Relationship Dynamics: First, I use composite charts to see what is the "BIG MISSION" and purpose of this relationship. You came together to "do" something. Then I  use composite charts to gain insights into the dynamics and potential challenges of a relationship. This includes understanding the nature of the partnership, areas of compatibility, and possible sources of tension.

  • Timing of Relationship Events: I also use composite charts to make predictions about the timing of significant events within the relationship, such as key milestones or challenges.

  • Evaluating Long-Term Compatibility: Composite charts can provide information about the long-term compatibility and sustainability of a relationship, offering guidance on how the partnership may evolve over time.
